Vollrath Company: Earns Silver Well Workplace Award

Sheboygan, Wis. – October 22, 2020 – The Vollrath Company, a leader in the commercial foodservice equipment and supplies industry, recently received a Silver Well Workplace Award from the The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA), with local affiliate Wellness Council of Wisconsin (WCWI). The Well Workplace Awards recognize companies and organizations for their commitment to the health and well-being of their employees, making The Vollrath Company one of the nation’s healthiest companies in 2020.

“The health and well-being of our associates is one of our most important goals, not just during this pandemic but on an ongoing basis,” says Paul Bartelt, The Vollrath Company CEO and president. “As part of our corporate culture, we place a lot of emphasis on encouraging healthy habits and work-life balance, and we are thrilled to be recognized by the Wellness Council of America for our efforts.”

Alongside ongoing efforts to encourage healthy behaviors, Vollrath introduced several programs to further incentivize associates:

  • Lucky 7 Bingo was a 7-month challenge focused on balancing and nourishing your body as well as your spirit. It incorporated healthy eating, preventive screenings, safety and education, community involvement, physical activity, along with emotional health and well-being.
  • Strive for Five was a 5-week challenge that was designed to “Get You Up and Moving”.
  • Summer Heat Team Challenge included exercise and eating healthy to “Get Ready for the Summer”.
  • The Vollrath-In-Motion program was designed to challenge employees to make healthy choices by scheduling annual preventative screenings, exercising, eating healthy and participating in company and community events.

Laurie Petrie, Vollrath’s Health Services administrator comments: “Our Wellness Team worked together to offer wellness challenges in an effort to improve the overall health and well-being of our employees and it was great to see how many participated in one or several of the programs.  Sometimes it just takes a little push for employees to develop healthier lifestyle behaviors and maintain a healthy way of living.”

The Well Workplace Awards initiative is driven by a rigorous set of criteria outlined in WELCOA’s seven benchmarks to a result-oriented Well Workplace. Since its inception in 1991, over 1,000 organizations, ranging from educational institutions to non-profit and profit sectors have joined the list of “America’s Healthiest Companies” by receiving the Well Workplace Award.
