Community feedback to guide district’s vision
MILWAUKEE (August 22, 2019) – On Thursday, August 22, 2019, Milwaukee Public Schools announced the launch of a district survey designed to gather feedback from the community about important education topics. MPS is seeking the input of students, families, educators, staff and all community members to contribute feedback through a district-wide survey.   MPS will also hold a series of listening sessions designed to further engage the entire community and seek input to help guide MPS in creating a learning community that achieves a vision. This process is consistent with the district’s vision to provide an equitable educational environment that is child centered, supports achievement, and respects and embraces diversity.   “The information that comes from this survey will be used to help us improve,” said Dr. Keith Posley, Superintendent. “While we can point to areas of success, there are also areas where we can enhance, and we hope that all Milwaukee residents will take this important survey, whether or not they have children currently in our schools.”   These actions are in alignment with the district’s Five Priorities for Success: increasing academic achievement and accountability, improving district and school culture, developing our staff, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency, and especially strengthening communication and collaboration.   MPS leaders are engaged in a process to ensure that all community members’ voices are heard. A postcard with information about the survey will be mailed to every home in the district. Everyone in the city is encouraged to take the survey and attend a listening session. The survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, can be accessed at mpsmke.com/survey. Survey responses are confidential, and the survey will remain open until September 12, 2019.   Please mark your calendar to attend one or more of the following sessions.   ·      Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning (WCLL; 1017 N. 12th Street) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ·      Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Reagan High School (4965 S. 20th Street) from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. ·      Monday, September 23, 2019 at North Division High School (1011 W.
