(MADISON) – Making child support payments is getting easier for families across the state thanks to a growing partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) and MoneyGram, a service that allows individuals to securely pay child support with cash at popular retail locations, such as Walmart, CVS, and Advance America locations.

DCF first piloted the program in late 2015 in Milwaukee County and recently expanded it statewide. Since its inception, the program has already helped many Wisconsin families give and receive financial support to children with over 770 payments totaling $271,000 in 2016, and 943 payments totaling nearly $400,000 in the first half of 2017.

“Thanks to the MoneyGram program, non-custodial parents now have more ways to meet their obligations,” said DCF Secretary Eloise Anderson. “These payments positively impact families financially, help build family relationships, and can increase non-custodial parental involvement in their children’s lives.”

Making a payment through MoneyGram is as simple as finding the nearest store that participates in the program and providing some needed identification. People using the service are required to pay a nominal transaction fee to MoneyGram.
