Security Health Plan welcomes Jennifer Hockin as chief operating officer

MARSHFIELD – Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., has named Jennifer Hockin as its chief operating officer. Hockin will oversee strategic development and operations for Security Health Plan and its subsidiary, Security Administrative Services, LLC (SAS).

“Jennifer’s extensive leadership skills, strong regional health care market knowledge and personal commitment to serving our members make her a natural fit for our organization,” said Security Health Plan CEO Julie Brussow.

Hockin brings more than two decades of leadership, health care financing and relationship management experience to Security Health Plan. She began her health care career at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, implementing innovative value-based financing models with providers from the payer’s perspective as the director of contract management. She continued to work with payers, this time from the provider perspective, as the administrative director at Aspirus Network, Inc. In these roles, she learned to balance the payer’s attempts to bend the cost-curve and lower health care costs with the provider’s needs for delivering high quality health care at competitive costs to patients.

“As a provider-sponsored health plan, Security Health Plan brings both provider and payer perspectives together, and has the continued opportunity to be a leader in how to partner health care delivery with value-based financing models that result in the best care outcomes and experiences at a lower cost for our members,” Hockin said.

She intends to lead the path to growth by executing on the organization’s strategic plan through operational excellence and improved member experience. Her extensive background in payer-provider contracting and relationship management has prepared her to think through the implications of strategies and has given her the means necessary to execute on those strategies.

A graduate of University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a bachelor’s degree in political science and of University of Wisconsin, Madison, with certification from the School of Business Executive Education program in Advanced Management & Leadership, Hockin believes, “Great leadership requires a collaborative spirit, teamwork, accountability, and continuous process improvement. All of these key attributes exist today at Security Health Plan, and I am looking forward to contributing as a new member of the team.”
