Wauwatosa, Wisconsin – October 7, 2016 – GE Healthcare made history today with the production and delivery of its 17,000th LOGIQ E9 – the premier general imaging ultrasound system that has become the most installed general imaging ultrasound system in history.1 Hundreds of GE employees joined family-members, clinical experts and community leaders to celebrate the 17,000th unit, presented to local healthcare leader University of Wisconsin Health System.
“We’ve proclaimed October as Manufacturing Month throughout the state, and today’s celebration of the 17,000th LOGIQ E9 ultrasound system is a perfect example of the quality products our state engineers,” Governor Walker said. “This quality system has an enormous impact on healthcare professionals and patients around the world, and we’re proud to say it was developed and continues to be powered by Wisconsin engineers.”
GE Healthcare first entered the medical ultrasound industry in 1990, and expanded its operations in Milwaukee County to become a global industry leader in just 11 years. The LOGIQ E9 is a versatile ultrasound system that helps meet a wide variety of general imaging needs with extraordinary image quality, enhanced workflow, and expert tools. It was first launched in 2008 and took approximately 100 Wisconsin based engineers five years to develop. This same team continues to expand and enhance the capabilities of the LOGIQ E9 today in order to best serve our customers. The LOGIQ E9 is the world’s leading ultrasound system in the world for radiology departments and is used at leading institutions, such as the Mayo Clinic, the University of WI – Health Center, Froedtert Hospital, and the Cleveland Clinic.
The day’s celebration included: remarks from Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and leaders from GE Healthcare, the ultrasound industry and local government; a ceremonial final assembly of the 17,000th LOGIQ E9; and tours of the Technology Showcase in Wauwatosa.
