Ron and Lorri Riek of Woodville Warehousing and Distributing were joined by numerous supporters on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at a ceremonial groundbreaking for a 122,500 square foot cold and frozen storage facility in the Baldwin I-94 Industrial Park (Baldwin, Wisconsin).
The cost of the project is estimated at $7 million. It is located on a 12-acre site in an industrial park that is owned by the Village of Baldwin. The site allows for future growth by Woodville Warehousing. The interior sidewalls have a clear height of 36 feet for maximum racking and storage options.
The facility in Baldwin allows Woodville Warehousing and its customers to take advantage of Interstate 94, an east-west corridor, and U.S. Highway 63, a north-south corridor.
“As Woodville Warehousing continues to add new customers and grow relationships with existing ones, we are eager to open a new facility in Baldwin, Wisconsin,” said Ron Riek of Woodville Warehousing. The Rieks operate three other warehouse and distribution facilities totaling over 250,000 square feet in nearby Woodville, Wisconsin. Long- and short-term storage options include dry (room temperature), refrigerated, and frozen (sub-zero temperatures). The Rieks also operate a companion company called Woodville Logistics.
Several partners collaborated on the project, including the Village of Baldwin, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), Hiawatha National Bank, and Wisconsin Business Development (WBD). The industrial park is located within a Tax Incremental District created by the Village of Baldwin. The site was discounted to Woodville Warehousing and the project is subject to the terms and conditions of a Development Agreement between the village and company. Project financing is through Hiawatha National Bank (Hudson, Wisconsin branch) and WBD. The two lenders are structuring a Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loan for the project. WEDC approved state tax credits that Woodville Warehousing will earn following the completion of the project and the creation of new jobs in Baldwin.
“On behalf of the Village of Baldwin, we are excited and thrilled that Woodville Warehousing chose to bring an extension of their business to the Baldwin I-94 Industrial Park,” said Willy Zevenbergen, President of the Village of Baldwin. “The location on I-94 is ideal and the fact that the infrastructure is complete and the site is shovel-ready, made this a very appealing location. We look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Ron and Lorri Riek and Woodville Warehousing as they expand their business in Baldwin.”
“The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation is pleased to support Woodville Warehousing and Distributing’s growth, and we applaud the new jobs this facility will bring to Baldwin,” said WEDC deputy secretary and chief operating officer Tricia Braun. “We are proud to work with companies throughout Wisconsin to help them take advantage new business opportunities that result in increased economic activity and prosperity for our citizens.”
Bauman Construction, Chippewa Falls Wisconsin, is the general contractor. Woodville Warehousing and Bauman Construction were partners on some of the earlier warehouse facilities.
