WHEDA: Tommy Thompson Commerce Center is open for business

MADISON, WI – Electrical power was restored to the Tommy Thompson Commerce Center at around 10:00 PM on Wednesday, October 21. Officials have tested and assessed systems to help ensure the building is safe to return to normal business operation. The facility is open for business today.

The Tommy Thompson Commerce Center, located at 201 West Washington Avenue in Madison, experienced a small electrical fire in a storage room in the underground parking garage during the early morning on October 21. The fire was contained to a small area. No one was injured.

Employees of the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) that is headquartered in the building have been asked to report to work.

Other state agencies with offices located in the building include the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), the Educational Approval Board, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Tourism.
