Milwaukee Bucks, Signal360: Reimagine fan engagement

Beacon technology implemented for Bucks’ proximity-based marketing initiative

The Milwaukee Bucks are committed to enhancing the experience they provide to their fans, and as such are reimagining a system of direct communication by employing a proximity-based mobile marketing solution with Signal360, the leading provider of proximity marketing. The technology delivers notifications and content to smartphones that have opted-in to the program through the Bucks mobile application. It can be utilized both inside during games at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, and outside at events like the Bucks Summer Block Party and Summerfest.

The initial launch during the 2015 NBA Playoffs included use of in-arena Signal360 proprietary beacons that can engage with 95 percent of fans across mobile platforms to provide personalized fan offers and experiences. Signal360’s beacons, unique in the proximity based marketing space, emit both the Sonic Audio technology and BLE with full iBeacon™ support to reach a wide range of handsets in different modes, even reaching devices with Bluetooth disabled. This ensures that no fan is left out of the experience if they opt-in to participate.

Participating Bucks fans can receive a variety of in-game and in-venue notifications, such as welcome messages, free gifts and seat upgrades. The team’s proximity marketing roadmap includes exclusive content, special offers and coupons as well as integration with concessionaires, team stores and much more.

“Proximity technology gives our organization new abilities to communicate with and reward fans for their loyalty in contextually relevant ways,” said Bucks Senior Vice President of Business Development Matt Pazaras.

The Bucks are taking the technology outside the BMO Harris Bradley Center throughout the summer beginning with the team’s uniform unveiling at the Bucks Summer Block Party earlier in June and continuing at Summerfest. Fans with the current Bucks app and necessary permissions will be treated to unique content and offerings throughout the festival.

“By utilizing our turn-key platform and unique combination of technologies, the Bucks are not only giving their fans a better in-arena experience, but they are opening up a dialogue with fans in meaningful ways,” said Alex Bell, Founder and CEO of Signal360. “It’s an exciting opportunity for better interaction between the Bucks organization, fans and corporate sponsors.”
