The recently formed Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation (GO-EDC) has taken yet another step to enhance the economic fortunes of the greater Oshkosh region by establishing a parallel charitable organization called GO-EDC Foundation, Inc. The Foundation’s charge is to reduce poverty, eliminate blight, and create wealth within targeted Oshkosh areas.

In order to create this organization, GO-EDC Foundation, Inc. applied to the Internal Revenue Service to become a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which received official approval this month. The purposes of GO-EDC and the Foundation are complementary.

“While GO-EDC’s focus is on job creation, business growth, and attracting capital investment to the greater Oshkosh region, GO-EDC Foundation, Inc. will facilitate training and education opportunities to individuals residing in areas with higher unemployment and poverty while connecting such individuals to employment opportunities in the greater community,” said Jason White, CEO of Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation.

“Too,” continued White, “the Foundation will partner with other public and private organizations to transition properties to a more productive and aesthetic use, while also extending sources of financial capital to businesses desiring to locate or grow in areas largely considered for redevelopment.”

The Oshkosh Area Community Foundation and Kuenzel Foundation have pledged multi-year support for GO-EDC Foundation, Inc. The organization will seek additional charitable donations going forward.

The Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation (GO-EDC) is a private-public organization committed to providing leadership, direction, coordination, and services to advance economic development in the greater Oshkosh area. GO-EDC accomplishes this mission through building on its strong economic base of existing enterprises and industries, diversifying the economic base by encouraging new industries, and further developing businesses that fill gaps and improve the regional quality of life – all aimed at raising the economic well-being of the greater Oshkosh area and its residents.
