Madison- Over the past 26 years, ABC has given hundreds of awards to members who not only participate in ABC’s safety award program, but to those who excel in safety practices as well. ABC knows that jobsite safety
is the most important issue for contractors and places much emphasis on maintaining safe practices in the field.
ABC awarded two firms with the ABC of Wisconsin Award of Excellence. One is awarded to a firm with less
than 200,000 hours worked, and the other is awarded to a firm with more than 200,000 hours worked. The
recipient in the less than 200,000 hours worked category is Wieser Brothers General Contractor, Inc. of La
Crescent, MN. The recipient in the more than 200,000 hours worked category is Osmose Railroad Services
of Madison. The Award of Excellence is presented to the best entry in ABC’s Safety Awards Program. The
company must have incident rates for total OSHA recordables and lost work day cases at least twenty-five
percent better than their industry average. In addition, Award of Excellence winners must have a model safety
program and impressive past safety record.
Although only two companies received the Award of Excellence, seven others were awarded the ABC Gold
Safety Award of Honor. Gold Awards of Honor are given to companies that have proven their safety record
for lost workday cases and shown that their total OSHA recordables are ten percent better than their industry
average for the year.
Another award presented at the event was the Platinum Platinum Award of Honor for Zero Recordable Award.
This award is presented to companies that went through the year without a recordable accident or lost time. 31
companies achieved this status.
The No Lost Time Accident Award is presented to companies that did not have any recordable accidents that
contributed to lost work time. 18 companies earned this award.
According to Don Moen, ABC of Wisconsin Safety Director, “These awards clearly demonstrate that the
commitment of ABC members to their safety programs is paying off through fewer accidents and injuries. It
is important to recognize individuals who are truly committed to implementing a formula that ensures a safe
environment for themselves, their workforce, and the community around them.”
