Road America: Vintage motorcycles and the Rockerbox Motofest this weekend

VINTAGE MOTORCYCLES AND THE ROCKERBOX MOTOFEST TAKE OVER ROAD AMERICA THIS WEEKEND

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., June 4, 2014 – Vintage motorcycles will roar again at Road America, June 6-8, during the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) Vintage Motorcycle Classic. The event features vintage race bikes ranging from rigid-frame Harley and Indian hand-shifters all the way to the early ’90s Superbikes, the organization also features “alternative modern” single, twin, and three-cylinder race bikes, such as Triumph Daytona’s, Ducati Panagales and Wisconsin-made EBRs. If a century’s worth of two-wheel machinery isn’t enough, there are also vintage racing sidecars and even an exhibition class for

electric motorcycles. Road America is a track favorite of competitive vintage riders because of its four-mile layout including, high-speed straights, multiple turns and undulating terrain. Several passing areas contribute to the competitive spirit and the racing action making this weekend a can’t miss opportunity for any two-wheel enthusiast.

Off the track, the Rockerbox Motofest kicks off on Saturday, June 7, featuring an eclectic mix of Euro, Japanese and American vintage café racers, choppers, sport bikes, racing machines, super motos, scooters, and sidecars. The Rockerbox Motofest includes a ride-in bike show and competition showcasing the greatest in classic style and fresh customization, plus all that is unusual and incredible. All makes and models of bikes are welcome, and spectators will find hundreds of bikes competing for space alongside dealers and vendors of all things motorcycling.

New events for this year’s Rockerbox Motofest include a burn out pit, micro beer tasting, live bands, pace car hot laps and sunset cruising on the Road America circuit for motorcycles only. The Blain’s Farm & Fleet Motorplex will be open for public karting and Yamaha stunt rider Bill Dixon will be performing throughout the weekend in the paddock. Road America is also proud to have original Rockerbox Motofest founder, and AHRMA racer, Scott Johnson, serving at the honorary Grand Marshal of the event.
