New UW System president Ray Cross says he is focused on better communication as he steps into the post.
Cross took over the job earlier this year after an uproar over millions the system had in its reserves that lawmakers felt had not been properly disclosed. Cross said the biggest issue facing the UW System is getting state lawmakers to understand its financial condition.
“The documents that we put forward that explained the fund balance weren’t sufficiently understandable to the average person,” Cross said. “You shouldn’t have to be a CPA to understand the finances of the university.”
