Bank of Sun Prairie Hosts Free Shred Event

Sun Prairie, WI – Identity theft costs Americans more than $24 billion each year. Protect yourself by shredding unwanted documents.

From 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. on May 10, Bank of Sun Prairie will host a paper-shredding event to help the community safely and responsibly recycle their unwanted documents. Community members may bring up to five boxes, or three 13-gallon plastic bags or fifty pounds of papers to be shredded and recycled by Pellitteri Waste Systems.

“We know it can be difficult to safely dispose of documents that include personal or sensitive information, so we’re offering an easy way to recycle any unwanted papers,” said Deb Krebs of Bank of Sun Prairie. “It’s really a win-win. We can safely discard personal documents and at the same time help save a tree.”

All papers shredded at the event will be bailed and shipped to a paper factory in Wisconsin that will repurpose the materials into other products like paper towels, napkins and tissue. For every 200 pounds of paper that is shredded and recycled, a tree can be left standing.

There is no need to remove staples, paper clips or rubber bands from paper materials; however, credit cards, three-ring binders, CDs, tapes or floppy disks cannot be included.

The event will take place at 228 E. Main Street in Sun Prairie. Coffee and donuts will be served.
