Wisconsin Technology Council: 3-D printing hub ‘Milwaukee Makerspace’ explored at Nov. 14 WIN-Milwaukee meeting

Three-dimensional, or “3-D,” printing is changing industries as diverse as plastics, engineered products, medical devices and aeronautics. Learn how this innovative technology is spreading throughout the Milwaukee-area economy at the Thursday, Nov. 14 meeting of the WIN-Milwaukee chapter.

The luncheon will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 10499 Innovation Drive, Wauwatosa. Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m., lunch at 12 p.m. and the presentation at 12:15 p.m. The cost is $10 for students, $25 for WIN members and Milwaukee County Research Park tenants, $35 for non-members and included with WIN corporate memberships.

Pete Prodoehl, communications director and board member of the Milwaukee Makerspace, and Jesse DePinto, chief executive officer at Voxel Metric, will talk about their experiences working in and out of the Milwaukee Makerspace. Voxel Metric is an emerging 3-D scanner company working with medical professionals, engineers and educators. The Milwaukee Makerspace is membership-based space for people who build, invent and want to expand their skills. The space hosts a variety of equipment to foster innovation in robotics, electronics, metal working, embedded software, 3-D printing and the arts.

DePinto is a mechanical engineer and serial entrepreneur who also operates a technology consulting company in the fields of 3-D printing and scanning, advising Fortune 100 companies and financial institutions. In addition to his Makerspace roles, Prodoehl is the vice president of interactive media at Z2 Marketing, owner of 2XL Networks and an avid blogger.
