Made possible through the WISCONSIN FAST FORWARD legislation, Governor Walker recently announced that the first round of Worker Training Grant funding is now available.

The WISCONSIN FAST FORWARD program encourages employers to develop customized, skilled and semi-skilled labor solutions. This initial round of WISCONSIN FAST FORWARD grant program announcements makes up to $2.7 million available for competitive worker training grants. Industry sectors eligible to apply for funding include:

• Manufacturers
• Small Manufacturers (50 or fewer employees)
• Construction
• Customer Service Representatives

Worker training projects must include training of current workers and/or unemployed or underemployed individuals. Proposed training should not replace existing, routine operational training and should enhance the sustainability and growth of the business and workforce.

Grant applicants can be a single business, a consortium of businesses, or a business/businesses in partnership with local workforce development boards and/or economic development organizations.
