MADISON, Wis., April 8, 2013 – The City of Eagle River has been awarded a $36,000 Site Assessment Grant by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to assist in completion of an environmental report and site clearance activities on commercial property intended for a business park.

The grant will reimburse the city for its Phase II Environmental Report in a revitalization project that will help define the degree and extent of contamination on an underutilized 15 acre commercial property located at 614 South Pride Street. The city is performing extensive site assessment and demolition work so the impact of soil contamination is clearly identified at the start of redevelopment activities to establish a business park.

The Brownfield Site Assessment Grant (SAG) Program is state program for WEDC to grant funds to local governments to perform environmental investigations, demolition of structures, removal of abandoned containers and underground tank systems.
