MADISON, WI. February 6, 2013 – The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is seeking Wisconsin companies to participate in a trade mission to Australia May 6-11. The goal of this mission is to assist small to medium sized companies from the Great Lakes region export products and services to this exciting market.
The Council of Great Lakes Governors (CGLG) is hosting the trade mission that includes briefings and meetings in Melbourne & Sydney. The trade mission is open to any sector, but opportunities exist especially in these areas for Wisconsin: industrial mining equipment, oil and gas equipment and health/medical equipment.
The targeted participants are firms with a physical product or service that can be sold to the Australian markets. Australia is now the fourth largest export mark globally for Wisconsin and the second largest in the Asia Pacific region after China.
Participants in the trade mission will receive market and business culture briefings from Australian CGLG Trade Representatives. Each stop will include pre-arranged, customized meetings with companies whose needs or capabilities align with participants’ export objectives.
Australia is currently undergoing a resources boom due in part to its proximity to the high growth economies of China and India, creating a huge demand for mining and other industrial equipment, technology services and environmental technology.
