UW Health: Hospitals named leaders in LGBT healthcare equality

MADISON- University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and American Family Children’s Hospital have been recognized as “Leaders in LGBT Healthcare Equality” in a survey by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation.

Both hospitals earned top marks for their commitment to equitable and inclusive care for LGBT patients and families, according to the HRC Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization.

UW Hospital and Clinics and American Family Children’s Hospital were among 464 health care facilities in the U.S. to be named Leaders in LGBT Healthcare Equality. Criteria for the title include non-discrimination policies for LGBT patients and employees, equal visitation for same-sex partners and parents and LGBT health education for key staff members.
