Experts analyze feasibility and help entrepreneurs secure federal funding

Technology businesses preparing ideas and innovations for the market have a new resource: the University of Wisconsin-Extension Center for Technology Commercialization (CTC).

The center provides:
One-on-one assistance using state-of-the-art Lean Startup feasibility analysis
Access to federal funding through the Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) and other funding programs
Connections to resources for winning innovations

Directed by Cheryl Vickroy, the staff includes Pat Dillon, Dave Linz and Eric Steege along with program manager Idella Yamben. Their combined experience aiding entrepreneurs in successful technology commercialization totals more than 75 years. They secured more than $100 million in federal funding for Wisconsin small business innovators through previous work in the Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Network.

The Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Network now functions as part of the Center for Technology Commercialization. The network augments in-house center staff with qualified service providers and partners with economic development expertise. Micro-grants help businesses access network experts’ advice on federal funding and commercialization planning. The grants, up to $8,000 per small business, are managed by the center on behalf of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corp., the U.S. Small Business Administration and UW-Extension fund the Center for Technology Commercialization.
