TENTH ANNUAL “INTO THE STREETS”:
ST. NORBERT COLLEGE DAY OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

DE PERE, WIS.: St. Norbert College’s first-year students will partake in a day of community service, “Into the Streets,” on Friday, August 23, from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The kick-off rally will be held on the college’s Main Hall lawn. Following the rally, community service will be performed in approximately 25 different locations, both on and off campus, with over 500 students, alumni, faculty and staff participating.

“Into the Streets” encourages participants to become active in their surrounding communities through service and action. Its primary goal is to orient new students to the area and forge ties with the community. Service is a founding principle of the Norbertine order and St. Norbert College.

For the second year in a row, as part of “Into the Streets,” a potato drop will be held. At the potato drop, students will unload (from a donated Schneider semi-truck) and distribute 5,000 bags of potatoes to 15 community food pantries who will be coming to the college’s Donald J. Schneider Stadium to pick up their potatoes.

This day of service is organized by the St. Norbert College Office of Leadership, Student Engagement, and First Year Experience with the support of the Sturzl Center for Community Service and Learning and the Office of Alumni and Parent Relations.

St. Norbert College received a $1,500 grant from the Walmart Foundation to help support “Into the Streets.”
