Rogers Memorial Hospital: Welcomes new director of nursing

(Oconomowoc, Wis.) Rogers Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Lynette Marshall, RN, MSN, has recently joined its management team as Director of Nursing at Rogers’ Oconomowoc location. In this role, Marshall is responsible for successfully planning, coordinating and administering the activities of nursing services at the Oconomowoc campus. In addition, she serves as a liaison to other departments and collaborates on clinical issues within the professional staff and the community. Marshall manages care for patients ranging in age from four to geriatric and functions clinically on the inpatient unit as needed. She also assists with patient care issues as they arise.

“I am excited about working with Lyn in this role,” Terri Schultz, RN, MBA, Rogers’ Vice President of Patient Care, said. “She brings new talent in many areas to our team and will assist with our quest to continually improve the competency of our staff and bring quality to our patients.”

Marshall brings more than 25 years of experience in behavioral health care and management to her position, including work with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings (inpatient, home care, long-term care and adult depression outpatient clinic). Her clinical specialty is providing nursing care for patients with eating disorders. Marshall received her bachelor’s in Anthropology from University of Wisconsin in Madison and her master’s in Child Psychiatric Nursing from Yale University in New Haven, Conn. She also holds a post-master’s certificate in Clinical Informatics from Duke University in Durham, N.C.

“Rogers Memorial Hospital emphasizes state-of-the-art psychiatric care,” Marshall said, “and I want to bring that same emphasis to nursing. I am passionate about developing staff and building professionalism, with a focus on caring attitudes and the importance of self care. I believe we have to take care of ourselves first in order to effectively care for our patients.”

A member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and Association for Nursing Professional Development, Marshall was recently certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. She is especially interested in the care of patients with eating disorders, writing many textbook chapters and providing numerous presentations on the subject. Marshall was previously Manager of Regional Nursing Education at Northern California Kaiser Permanente in California, where she directed a team of professional development nurse consultants to facilitate regional training programs for specialty nursing. She has served in a variety of roles at many medical and psychiatric facilities in Missouri, Connecticut, California, New Hampshire, Illinois and Wisconsin. Among her many accomplishments, Marshall also served as a staff nurse in the eating disorders unit at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison and assisted with the development of a treatment center for eating disorders in Chicago, Ill.
