Madison, WI) The River Alliance of Wisconsin offers a far easier and more rewarding Black Friday shopping experience. With its annual online auction, beginning November 29, the River Alliance is taking advantage of the online holiday shopping tradition to raise money to carry out its mission to keep Wisconsin’s rivers clean, healthy and fun for everyone.

“We’ve always enjoyed good success with the event, but this year we thought it would be smart to hitch our wagon to the Black Friday star,” says Joanne Jacobson, Donor Relations Director. According to Jacobson, it made sense to start on the Friday following Thanksgiving to give people an alternative to the chaos of the malls and highways.

In addition to being a great way to find special gifts for the holidays, the auction also offers bidders a way to show support for protecting Wisconsin’s rivers.

“Water is essential for life. It’s connected to every aspect of our lives from drinking to bathing to recreation, said Denny Caneff, Executive Director. “You buy an item on our auction and you make a positive contribution to clean, healthy rivers.”

The River Alliance’s online auction features a unique collection of goods and services, with many coming from beloved businesses found throughout Wisconsin. Items drawing the most attention, and often the highest bids, are excursions and experiences offered by people who know their way around the state. An evening at a Wisconsin tavern with the man who wrote the book on Wisconsin’s taverns; a two-day canoeing packages in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness; a guided adventure of a Wisconsin bog; a fly-fishing outing on a hidden trout stream are just a few of the one-of-a-kind experiences offered in the auction.

The auction can be found at www.biddingforgood.com/wisconsinrivers. The auction will open Friday, November 29 at 8am CST, and bidding will continue through 9pm CST on Sunday, December 8.
