“Halloween Legends and Lore” Auditions at
Old World Wisconsin
September 9 and 16, 7-8:30 pm

Eagle, Wis.–Auditions for October performances of “Halloween Legends and Lore” at Old World Wisconsin will be conducted on Mondays, September 9 and 16, from 7-8:30 pm in the outdoor museum’s Clausing Barn Restaurant. According to Bob Parker, assistant director and manager of this event, “If you love to tell stories, act, sing, dance and entertain, and love Halloween, we have the perfect way for you to share your enthusiasm and energy.”
Between October 18 and 26, Old World Wisconsin will present four evenings of “Halloween Legends and Lore” as part of an outdoor Halloween entertainment that mingles 18th-and 19th-century Wisconsin ghost stories with the folk and fairytales of the Old World.

Guests will discover fantastic mazes, solve strange riddles and puzzles, create and decorate macabre artifacts, and encounter cackling witches, gloomy grave diggers, strange beasts, eerie fortune tellers and bizarre entities. They’ll also learn the terrifying origins of the Ridgeway Ghost, and witness ghostly tales come to life, while enjoying tasty and disturbing treats and drinks. The evening culminates with a wild bonfire finale.

Actors and storytellers should prepare a two-minute piece from European or Wisconsin folklore to share. Actors may also be asked to read from a script. This production calls for men and women, ages 16 and up. Rehearsal schedules will vary depending on role and may include some weekend afternoons beginning in late September and some weekday evenings in the week before the event.

Overview of Old World Wisconsin
Old World Wisconsin, located in southeast Wisconsin and owned and operated by the Wisconsin Historical Society, is a premier outdoor museum of late 19th- and early 20th-century Midwestern immigrant farm and rural life. During the daily operating season, the museum offers family friendly activities, led by period-clad interpreters, as they visit 10 working farmsteads, explore 12 heirloom gardens, interact with historic animal breeds, and try historic crafts and trades. In 2013 the museum offers expanded activities every day that it is open, increased historic themes, and even more opportunities for guest engagement. Old World Wisconsin is open to the general public 10 am to 5 pm weekends in May, daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day, and Thursday through Sunday, September 5, through October 13. Special Halloween programming is offered in October, Heritage Arts Workshops in November and holiday programming in December.
