Kahler Slater Named a Best Workplace in the Nation for 10th Consecutive Year

Architecture and Experience Design Firm is One of Only Five Companies to have Appeared on the Great Place to Work® Best Small & Medium Workplaces List Every Year

MILWAUKEE – For the 10th consecutive year, architecture and experience design firm Kahler Slater has been named one of the best small companies to work for in the nation. Celebrating its 105th anniversary this year, the company is ranked number 17 among small companies on the Great Place to Work® 2013 Best Small & Medium Workplaces list, published today in FORTUNE magazine.

The annual list recognizes companies that have exceptional workplace cultures. In its 10th year, the competition is divided into two categories – Small Workplaces (50-250 employees) and Medium Workplaces (251-999 employees). Kahler Slater is one of only five companies to have received the honor each year since the list’s inception in 2004.

Kahler Slater was selected among hundreds of companies vying for a place on the list. Applicant companies opt to participate in the selection process, which includes an employee survey and an in-depth questionnaire about benefits programs and company practices. Great Place to Work then evaluates each application based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

“We are honored to be named a best workplace for 10 years running,” said Jim Rasche, co-chief executive officer and managing director of Kahler Slater’s Singapore office. “It tells us that we continue to do the right things to create a workplace environment that fosters trust and teamwork while inspiring our people to do great creative work.”

Co-CEO George Meyer added, “To be honored by Great Place to Work 10 years in a row is a great source of pride for us. Our culture and our employees have grown with the times. Over the past year, we have formalized our mentoring program to ensure we prepare today for the next 10 years of change and growth.”

Rasche added, “One way we’ve worked together at Kahler Slater to get through these challenging economic times is by fostering our creative culture and investing in our employees. This is the way companies will remain relevant for the next 100 years.”

Robert Levering, CEO and co-founder of Great Place to Work, said, “The companies appearing on our Best Small & Medium Workplaces list help us achieve our mission by presenting others with an example to emulate. These companies demonstrate that being an excellent employer leads to business success. While these companies may be relatively small in headcount, many of them provide services to some of the country’s largest and most notable organizations, suggesting that success has not so much to do with size as with the quality of service and experience a company provides. A great workplace, full of great employees, is better equipped to achieve that success.”

Levering added that organizations that foster such workplace cultures often see such benefits as better financial performance, less employee turnover, higher levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty, more innovative and creative thinking, higher productivity and enhanced public perception.
