Hoffman completed renovation of the 8-story facility

(Appleton, WI) A notable downtown Oshkosh facility has re-opened its doors after a year-long renovation project completed by Hoffman Planning, Design & Construction, Inc. The Oshkosh Premier Waterfront Hotel (formerly the City Center Hotel) celebrated its grand reopening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours for the public on Thursday, May 2nd.

All interior spaces were renovated in the 131,000 square foot hotel, which features 176 deluxe guestrooms including three executive and five whirlpool/fireplace suites.

“We started deconstruction of the facility in May of 2012,” stated Todd Wunderlich, Hoffman project manager. “All that remained after selective demolition were basically shells of the rooms you see today. The accomplishment of completely transforming this facility in one year is a credit to the ownership group, the City of Oshkosh, and the subcontractors that teamed with Hoffman.

The hotel also includes state-of-the-art meeting and banquet facilities; a fitness center and swimming pool area; lobby and office spaces; an outdoor patio with capacity for 100 guests; and the addition of a full-menu restaurant, the Ground Round at River’s Edge. “There was roughly 400,000 square feet of surface space – including existing walls, ceilings and new dry wall – that was textured by hand,” Wunderlich stated. “In addition, about 324,000 square feet of wall covering, tile and carpet were used for the project. Just about every area in the hotel saw an improvement.”

Rich Batley, hotel investor, along with fellow Oshkosh Investors, LLC partners, John Pfefferle and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Foundation, said the opening of the hotel is great news for the Oshkosh community. “The hotel will serve as an economic catalyst for the area by attracting conventions as well as creating new jobs,” stated Batley. “In addition to the 350 plus trades people and support staff that worked on the hotel renovation, 220 new hotel jobs were created in Oshkosh.”

Hoffman president Miles Girouard said the firm was honored to be a part of this significant project for the City of Oshkosh. “Creating a full service business hotel that addresses the needs of the area was everyone’s top priority,” Girouard stated. “We are extremely proud to be partners with Oshkosh Investors, LLC, helping support their vision for the hotel and contributing to the community.”
