APPLETON, Wis. (Sept. 19, 2013) – Cypress Benefit Administrators, a national third party administrator (TPA) headquartered in Appleton, Wis., and with locations in Portland and Salem, Ore., Omaha, Neb. and Colorado Springs, Col., was recently named a 2013 Business of the Year.

The award was presented by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce & Industry – the third largest Chamber in Wisconsin with over 1,300 professional and business members representing nearly 20 different communities.

With close to 50 nominations for 2013, Cypress received the Business of the Year Award in the Service category at a combined Chamber awards ceremony and business expo in Appleton, with an estimated 450 business professionals in attendance.

Each year, the Chamber’s Business of the Year Awards aim to recognize outstanding business performance by companies that achieve sustained growth and stability through successful business strategy, innovation and customer service while also making positive change in their industry and community.

Tom Doney, president and CEO of Cypress, said the award is a direct result of the TPA’s long-term commitment to innovation and cost containment. “We started out with eight employees who had a vision for offering employers a resourceful alternative to traditional health benefit plans and have grown to a staff of 100,” Doney said. “Our process of offering forward-thinking, fully customized benefit plans is leading to significant cost savings and really catching on with employers everywhere.” Doney added, “This award is inspiring in that it drives our entire team to keep focused on finding new ways to control health benefit costs even further.”

Since starting business in 2000, Cypress Benefit Administrators, a privately held company headquartered in Appleton, Wis., has evolved into more than a third party administrator (TPA) by pioneering the way toward cost containment in health benefits. Cypress is the country’s first TPA to bring claims administration, consumer driven health plans and proven cost control measures together into one package. Its customized employee benefit packages combine an appropriate mix of health insurance options that allow adaptability to the ever-changing healthcare environment and that make sense for employers of 50 to 18,000 throughout the United States.
