NEW BERLIN, Wis. — Orange TuesdayTM, celebrated yesterday, Sept. 3, doubled visitor traffic, increased sales, accelerated media coverage, and generated positive response from visitors for BuySeasons, Inc.’s costume brands BuyCostumes.com and CostumeExpress.com .

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are now joined by Orange Tuesday, which represents a key transition for shoppers looking for the best deals and most choices as they plan their Halloween decorating and costumes.

With the tease, Orange is the New Black Friday, the costume sites showcased hot costumes and accessories during the one-day-only Halloween sale, and also offered its version of low-priced, limited-time door busters, appropriately named “price slashers,” “door busters,” and “grave busters.”

Based on week over week comparisons, visitors to the websites more than doubled, orders increased by more than five times, and revenue jumped up over 350 percent.

Pumpkin busters accessories sold out, and hot costumes, including superheroes, fairytale characters, TV characters and pirates sold briskly.

“Our first-ever Orange Tuesday celebration is a screaming success,” said Dev Mukherjee , chief executive officer of BuySeasons, Inc. “Everyone’s expectations were blown away. We’ve had so much positive feedback from all facets of our business – including vendors, customers, even competitors. We are off to a strong start for the Halloween season.”

“As an online retailer, we are more nimble and not as restricted as traditional, brick-and-mortar retailers. We are able to start our season earlier while others are still offering back-to-school and summer clearance products. As shown by the results of Orange Tuesday, there is an appetite for Halloween items right after Labor Day,” said Mukherjee. “We trademarked Orange Tuesday, but are happy to encourage other retailers in the Halloween space, such as Party City, Target, Spirit of Halloween and others to help us launch the season.”

Shoppers were encouraged to sign-up for e-mails to gain early access to sale items, exclusive offers and secret surprises surrounding Orange Tuesday. As a result, new e-mail subscriptions swelled to four times more than the weeks prior to Orange Tuesday promotion.

Major media outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Tampa Bay Times, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, amongst other national and local media, picked up on Orange Tuesday, and what it means to shoppers.

In addition, social media, especially Twitter, buzzed about Orange Tuesday days prior to the event, and shoppers who took advantage of the sales on CostumeExpress.com and BuyCostumes.com expressed their thrill. One commenter, mke2lax1, wrote, “Serious haunters are at work in June. Orange Tuesday…love it.”

CostumeExpress.com directly addressed parents concerned about kids changing their minds before the holiday with its “I Want to Be Guarantee.” It’s no secret that some kids might want to be a superhero at breakfast, a pirate at lunch, and a cowboy by dinner. Therefore, Costume Express.com is allowing parents to make as many free exchanges as they need with its ‘I Want to Be Guarantee.’” For additional information on the Guarantee, visit http://www.costumeexpress.com/info/19.
