The Boldt Company is pleased to announce a leadership transition that affects its central operations business unit, based out of Waukesha, WI, and its corporate human resources and risk management department, located in Boldt’s Appleton, WI, headquarters. John Hale, group president of Boldt’s central operations business unit, is retiring from his position, but will continue to serve in an advisory role during his retirement. Jeff Johnson, formerly executive vice president of human resources and risk management, will now serve as group president of central operations. Jeff Niesen, formerly a vice president in Boldt’s central operations group, has moved into the role of executive vice president of human resources and risk management.

These changes took place after an in-depth, 6-month transition period and are a result of Boldt’s extensive career pathing and succession-planning processes. Those processes have been developed and put in place by Boldt to prepare individuals for next levels of responsibility and ensure those in leadership roles represent and instill in others Boldt’s business practices, culture and values.

John Hale, who has had a successful, 30-year career at Boldt, is retiring from his position as Group President of Boldt’s Central Operations—he will continue to serve the company in an advisory role. Hale greatly contributed to the success of Boldt’s central operations and the organization as a whole during his time at the company. Boldt’s central operations grew into a core part of the company’s business under Hale’s leadership, which included an expansion of Boldt’s footprint in the Midwest and the strengthening of its positions in Madison, WI, and Illinois. Hale’s focus on operational excellence has not only helped build Boldt’s central operations, but also contributed to the success of countless new and returning clients over the past three decades.

“It has been a privilege to have spent my career with Boldt, where I’ve worked with the highest-quality individuals in the industry,” said Hale. “I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting our leadership’s efforts in growing the company’s revenue from a modest $50 million in 1982 to over $650 million today.”

Jeff Johnson has moved from Boldt’s Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Risk Management to its Group President of Central Operations. Johnson has been with Boldt for 20 years and had worked in project leadership positions before moving into his human resources and risk management role in 2005. Johnson’s knowledge of the company and its culture, strong background in project leadership and successful work with Boldt teams and customers ensure his leadership will bring continued success to Boldt’s Central Operations.

“Boldt is a wonderful place to work and the opportunities it has provided me in different roles are all culminating to serve me well in my new position,” said Johnson. “John Hale did a superb job and I’m looking forward to continuing to serve Boldt’s customers, growing its business in new markets and working with our talented employees to reach new goals.”

Jeff Niesen has moved from a Vice President in Boldt’s Central Operations to Executive Vice President of Boldt’s Corporate Human Resources and Risk Management group. Niesen has been with Boldt for 32 years and, like Johnson, his experience will serve him well in his new position. Niesen has a strong background in project leadership, customer relations and an in-depth knowledge of risk management and contracts, as well as Boldt’s business and culture. Niesen’s new role sees him return to Boldt’s human resources and risk management group, where he spent three years developing and leading Boldt’s training program before his role in Boldt’s central operations.

“I think my new role in Boldt’s human resources and risk management group is a great opportunity to use my experience from the project leadership side of the business in a new way,” said Niesen. “I’m very proud of the work we’ve done in Boldt’s central operations during the past few years and I’m excited to bring my operations experience with customers, contracts, insurance, establishing teams and employee development into my new position.”
