MADISON, Wis. — Several nonprofits received donations totaling $9,500 from Alliant Energy as part of its year-end giving campaign, while others received more than $35,000 from the Alliant Energy Foundation as part of its grant making process.

The River Food Pantry received $5,000 from Alliant Energy as part of its year-end giving campaign, while the Empty Stocking Club received $2,500. The funds provide needed support for services to low-income families and individuals in Dane County during the holiday season.

Alliant Energy contributed to more than 100 food pantries and human needs organizations across its service area through a year-end giving campaign.

Food pantries in Belleville, Blue Mounds, Cambridge, Cottage Grove, De Forest, Deerfield, Lodi, McFarland, Mount Horeb, Oregon, Stoughton, Verona and Windsor received smaller donations.

At the same time, the Alliant Energy Foundation has contributed an additional $35,000 to local nonprofits to support community development efforts as part of its regular grant-making cycle.

Boys and Girls Club of Dane County received $5,000 for its college readiness efforts to help K-12 students from disadvantaged backgrounds prepare for high school and college success.

Wisconsin FFA Foundation received $5,000 to provide leadership conferences and other opportunities in agricultural education to FFA student members and their communities.

Operation Fresh Start received $5,000 to provide employment, education, career development and placement services to at-risk youth through construction and conservation work that serves the community.

Wisconsin Historical Foundation received $3,500 to help students in grades 6 to 12 to develop critical thinking, writing and research skills by analyzing and presenting work on historical issues through exhibits, documentaries, dramatic performances and papers.

Girls on the Run received $2,000 to offer physical education and training for a 5k run and community service projects to preteen girls to help establish healthy emotional, physical and social skills, behaviors and attitudes.

These grants were part of the Alliant Energy Foundation’s Community Grants Program, which has awarded more than $275,000 in grants during its third-of-three grant cycles in 2012, bringing this year’s total to nearly $1,000,000 provided to more than 532 non-profit organizations.
