MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) has awarded Zeppos & Associates, Incorporated nine Paragon awards for outstanding work in 2011. Zeppos & Associates’ professionals were honored for their work in media relations, special events, public affairs, public relations tactics, marketing consumer products and services, and online tactics.
“Our team’s goal has always been to be the best – not the biggest – PR firm in Wisconsin, and to earn nine awards at a single event is a fantastic accomplishment,” said Evan N. Zeppos, APR, president of the firm. “This recognition is testament to our team’s creativity, skills and unwavering dedication to consistently meeting and exceeding client expectations and goals.”
Zeppos & Associates earned Paragon Awards in the following categories:
* An Award of Excellence in the category of media relations for local, state and national media efforts for the 2011 Cousins Subs Moo Tour and Moo-la-palooza, a mooing contest at the Wisconsin State Fair.
* An Award of Excellence in the category of marketing consumer products/services for its work to build statewide buzz and skyrocketing sales for Chocolate Covered Cranberries on a Stick, the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association’s new offering at the 2011 Wisconsin State Fair.
* An Award of Excellence in the category of media relations tactics for a news conference that involved the symbolic burial of transmission lines in an effort to prevent high-voltage power lines from being placed above Milwaukee Montessori School and instead have them buried underground. The vivid visuals generated material that aired on several local news broadcasts that night.
* An Award of Excellence in the category of online tactics for helping increase the competitiveness of Wisconsin cranberries through a website revamp for the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center and strategic expansion of the state fruit’s e-commerce efforts.
* An Award of Excellence in the category of special events for the symbolic wall smashing to mark the beginning of construction of a new luxury Marriott hotel in Downtown Milwaukee. The event and its creative visuals generated significant media coverage.
* An Award of Merit in the category of media relations tactics for its work to position the national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP, specifically the employment law team, as the go-to experts to help guide businesses on what the new concealed carry state law meant for them.
* An Award of Merit in the category of media relations tactics for helping raise awareness about the importance of childhood vaccinations in Wisconsin and helping identify an advocate. The cleverly titled news release that was distributed in partnership between Pfizer and the Wisconsin Association of School Nurses generated media coverage across state lines and resulted in 115 story placements.
* An Award of Merit in the category of media relations tactics for its development and execution of a targeted industry pitch on behalf of the National Electrical Manufacturers Association for an electrical fire safety campaign that resulted in significant positive exposure in one of the electrical industry’s leading publications.
* An Award of Merit in the category of media relations tactics for bringing national media attention to Wisconsin cranberries and the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association. The efforts resulted in Fox Business News traveling to Wisconsin and airing a series of live reports from a marsh for an entire day during the peak of harvest.
The 2011 PRSA Paragon Awards were announced at a ceremony on May 15, 2012, at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.
