MADISON—Wisconsin People & Ideas, the Wisconsin Academy’s quarterly magazine of Wisconsin thought and culture, recently announced the winners of their 2012 short story contest held in conjunction with the Wisconsin Book Festival:
1st Place: “Eyes in the Back of Her Head,” by Jill Stukenberg – Wausau
2nd Place: “All Blues in the Night,” by Andrea Lochen – Milwaukee
3rd Place: “Plan for Paradise,” by Christine Stocke – Madison
First- through third-place contest winners receive cash prizes of up to $500 and will read their stories during the 2012 Wisconsin Book Festival in Madison this fall. In addition to the cash prizes and reading, award-winners will have their stories published in sequential issues of Wisconsin People & Ideas, beginning with the first-place story in the summer 2012 issue, available in July. Award-winning stories will also be accessible on the magazine’s web page as they are published in the print edition. The magazine would like to thank short story contest sponsors the Wisconsin Book Festival, Shake Rag Alley School for Arts and Crafts, and Wisconsin Public Television, and all contest judges for volunteering their time and efforts to this excellent forum for new and emerging Wisconsin writers.
