General Contractor Donated Staff, Equipment to Help Build New Playground for Madison’s Gompers Elementary School, Blackhawk Middle School, and North Side Neighborhood

MADISON, WIS. — The school year has just begun and this afternoon at Samuels Gompers Elementary School on Madison’s Northside, the school and community will be celebrating the opening of a brand new playground.

Constructed through the “Growing Together” community building initiative, the new playground was built in late August through the volunteer efforts of parents, neighbors and staff from Vogel Bros. Building Co. Thanks to a timely phone call, Pete Vogel found out that the playground had lost its initial builders the week before the planned build date and knew his Northside business could help.

“I knew we could count on our team to step in and help build the new playground at Gompers Elementary and Blackhawk Middle School,” said Vogel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vogel Bros. Building Co., a fourth-generation general contracting company. Vogel Bros. donated staff and equipment, along with donations of concrete from Lycon Inc. and equipment rental from Miller Bradford & Risberg.

“The ‘Growing Together’ initiative is important for improving the health of our neighbors and local schoolchildren. Vogel Bros. appreciates the opportunity to help build this playground and continue our strong tradition of giving back to our community. We’re happy to be a small part of today’s ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate this new playground for our local schools.”
