UW-Stevens Point: Students to showcase research at the Capitol

Sixteen University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students and their advisers will be among more than 200 undergraduates from around the University of Wisconsin System to exhibit their research at the state capitol this week.

The ninth annual “Posters in the Rotunda” event will be held Wednesday, March 7. Elected officials, UW System Board of Regents and others will have the opportunity to view poster presentations of the research projects and speak with the students.

Faculty advisers from UW-Stevens Point include Jeana Magyar-Moe of psychology, Jason D’Acchioli of chemistry, Scott Wallace and Jason Davis of economics, Nisha Fernando of interior architecture, Eric Anderson of wildlife ecology, Paul Doruska of forestry, and Holly Schmies of athletics.

UW-Stevens Point students participating include:

Belleville – Erin Brown, senior majoring in interior architecture, researched design concepts that could help revive and make more active the CenterPoint Mall in Stevens Point with another student.

Brillion – Brittany Titel, senior majoring in business administration, researched methods of assessing intellectual safety in a college classroom with four other students.

Greenfield – Sara Wendt, senior majoring in wildlife ecology management and research, studied the habitats of the Peromyscus leucopus noveboracensis (northern white-footed mouse) and the P. maniculatus gracilis (woodland deer mouse).

Kimberly – Karl Heiman, spring 2011 graduate who majored in psychology, researched methods of assessing intellectual safety in a college classroom with four other students.

Monticello – Shanna Karls, senior majoring in athletic training, researched the effects of dehydration on cognitive function and mood with three other students.

Plover – Nancy Eriksson, senior majoring in psychology, studied methods of assessing intellectual safety in a college classroom with four other students.

Portage – Brittany Schreiber, junior majoring in chemistry, French and mathematics, studied and investigated the production of hydrogen with another student.

Portage – Catherine Morrow, spring 2011 graduate who majored in psychology, researched methods of assessing intellectual safety in a college classroom with four other students.

Ringle – Gina Fisher, senior majoring in athletic training, researched the effects of dehydration on cognitive function and mood with three other students.

River Falls – Jada Butler, senior majoring in psychology, studied methods of assessing intellectual safety in a college classroom with four other students.

Seymour – Kelly Zuleger, senior majoring in athletic training, researched the effects of dehydration on cognitive function and mood with three other students.

Stevens Point – Anthony Sarodh De Almeida, senior majoring in interior architecture, researched design concepts that could help revive and make more active the CenterPoint Mall in Stevens Point with another student.

Stevens Point – Dan Wierzba, senior majoring in athletic training, researched the effects of dehydration on cognitive function and mood with three other students.

Wausau – Greyson Waldhart, senior majoring in chemistry with ACS certification, studied and investigated the production of hydrogen with another student.

West Salem – Tyler Pederson, senior majoring in forest management, researched fuel rod volume in red pine pulpwood trees in Central Wisconsin.

Westby – Devin Christensen, senior majoring in economics and philosophy, explored the relationship between U.S. politico-income inequality and tax revenues.
