(Milwaukee, WI) The 8th Clean Rivers Clean Lake Conference will be held Monday, April 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Discovery World Museum on Milwaukee’s lakefront. The morning plenary session will include opening remarks by Nancy Frank, Sweet Water Chair, and policy updates by EPA Region 5 Administrator Susan Hedman and Wisconsin DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp. A panel addressing the state of Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes led by Dean David Garman of the UWM School of Freshwater Sciences will be the closing plenary session.
There will be three workshop tracks featuring 17 speakers on 15 topics, including regional water project updates, rural nonpoint pollution tactics, latest innovations in salt/chloride use, the Milwaukee’s big infiltration and inflow reduction project, rainwater harvesting projects and water quality trading. The luncheon will include the awarding of nine 2011-2012 Sweet Water mini-grants totaling over $25,000. The Day concludes with a networking reception/poster session in Discovery World’s Pilot House.
