Honorary degree is only the second awarded by New York Chiropractic College in nearly a century

PALMYRA, Wis. (April 11, 2012)—Charles C. DuBois, president of Standard Process Inc., delivered the commencement address at New York Chiropractic College’s (NYCC) Winter 2012 Commencement Ceremony on March 31 to 42 candidates for Doctor of Chiropractic degrees. During the ceremonies, DuBois was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree–only the second awarded by NYCC in its 90-year history.

NYCC recognized DuBois for “his generous philanthropy, his business achievement, and for having significantly advanced natural healthcare education, scholarship, and nutritional research.”

DuBois was humbled by his new honorary degree and honored to give the commencement address, “I believe chiropractic helps improve the quality of life for patients. AddressingAddressing the graduates gives me a chance to tell them there is someone out there ready to offer guidance and support as they begin their journey to improve the face of health in our country.”

During his commencement address, DuBois praised the graduates for choosing a profession focused on service to others and changing lives for the better. With nearly 300 people employed at Standard Process’ corporate headquarters in Palmyra, Wis., DuBois offered the graduates some sage advice, “Treat employees as you would your family, and treat your patients as you would your parents.” He further encouraged them to “Be generous, get involved, volunteer your time and support your profession. Be positive, take challenges and turn them into opportunities.”

This is DuBois’ third honorary doctoral degree received from an educational institution. In 2009, Logan College of Chiropractic and National University of Health Sciences both awarded DuBois honorary Doctor of Laws degrees.

DuBois was also the commencement speaker at Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida’s graduation ceremony on March 23.
