St. Norbert College: Jumps on board with Green Bay Metro

De Pere, Wis.: Beginning Aug. 1, 2012, St. Norbert College students, faculty and staff can ride the Green Bay Metro bus line free. A St. Norbert College I.D. serves as a bus pass and includes all routes. See routes map at http://bit.ly/Nz4rxm.

This program will allow the St. Norbert community to save money on fuel and other expenses associated with operating a vehicle. It will also allow students easier access to jobs off campus.

“We are excited to be partnering with Green Bay Metro,” said Corday Goddard, associate dean for student development at St. Norbert. This is the latest in a long line of ‘green’ initiatives undertaken by the college and we’re especially excited for our international student population, many of whom don’t have vehicles. This will make exploring the Green Bay community easier for them.”

Green Bay Metro operates 13 full-service bus routes, a number of limited-service bus routes and paratransit services throughout the Green Bay area.

Hours of operation are:

– Monday through Friday 5:15 a.m. – 9:45 p.m.

– Saturday from 7:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Service is not provided Sunday.

All of Green Bay Metro’s buses are Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible and can accommodate mobility devices such as standard wheelchairs and scooters. They also offer bike racks on all of their buses. Riders can bike to a local bus stop then easily secure their bike to the front of the bus.

“Green Bay Metro welcomes St. Norbert College to our UPASS Transit program,” said Green Bay Metro transit director Tom Wittig. “Metro is pleased to partner with St. Norbert making public transportation efficient for all.”

St. Norbert College is subsidizing this program. For more information, contact Green Bay Metro transit director Tom Wittig at 920-448-3454 or tomwi@ci.green-bay.wi.us.
