Madison – The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin voted today to reduce Northern States Power Company’s overall electric rate adjustment request by $3.6 million.

Earlier this year, Northern States Power applied for an overall 6.7% electric rate increase in 2013.

Today, the Commission scaled back the request to a 6.1% overall electric rate increase. The Commission cut back the utility’s original request by reducing certain personnel costs associated with the utility.

The company had also asked for an increase in natural gas rates earlier this year of $5.3 million or 4.9%. The Commission reduced that request to $2.7 million or 2.5% natural gas increase.

All documents associated with the current Northern States Power rate-adjustment request can be found by searching the Commission’s Electronic Regulatory Filing System (ERF) for docket number 4220-UR-118.
