Entries for Shift Your Gears Contest accepted until March 31; fan voting starts April 2
MIDDLETON, Wis. (March 27, 2012) – Spring has sprung early this year – and how! – but travelers from throughout the Midwest still have time to enter Wisconsin Travel Best Bets’ Shift Your Gears Contest for a chance to win 12 weekend getaways and $500.
Shift Your Gears entries will be accepted through March 31. The contest will award a dozen getaways of $250 or more to off-the-beaten path destinations across Wisconsin.
To enter, contestants design a trip to one of the 12 participating destinations. Starting April 2, participants will encourage their friends and family members to rally behind their planned trip: the winning travelers for each destination will be decided by a fan vote. The organizers of the trip with the most overall votes will get $500 to spend during their adventure.
Plus, everybody who votes has a chance to win a prize package of their own.
“2012 is going to be a fun, crazy year,” said Val Steel, Director of Tourism at the Middleton Tourism Commission. “With the election coming on, we really felt like we should tap into the democratic spirit and let the voters, including your friends and family, have a say in who wins.”
Travelers are encouraged to be creative while planning their trips, as a clever team name or funny photo will make a trip more likely to advance to the voting round in April.
