Funds to Benefit College’s New Education Access Program
Roger McQueen, CEO of the McQueen Financial Group, presented a $10,000 check on behalf of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation to Salt Lake Community College. The money will go to support the College’s new Partnerships for Accessing College Education (PACE) program.
“The Northwestern Mutual Foundation believes that education is a key to the success of the next generation,” McQueen said. “This donation for the PACE program demonstrates support for the College in helping it serve the local community.”
Students from Salt Lake City’s West High School have already begun the new program—a unique partnership between education and business that brings local school systems, local businesses, and the College together to offer an incentive program that provides high school students with opportunities for employment during summer recesses and potential internships during their academic years.
Those who complete the program will receive full two-year academic scholarships to attend Salt Lake Community College after high school.
“The ongoing support from Roger McQueen, Managing Partner of Northwestern Mutual, and the $10,000 check from Northwestern Mutual for Partnerships for Accessing College Education are remarkable acts of kindness,” said SLCC President Cynthia Bioteau. “There is little doubt in my mind that together we make an amazing difference today for tomorrow through making education accessible for all.”
McQueen was also recently received the Northwestern Mutual Community Service Award, which has recognized Northwestern Mutual employees from for their volunteer commitment since 1995.
