Medical device manufacturer adds new equipment to foster production and advance design process

BUTLER, Wis. – MRPC, a single-source provider of medical device components and assemblies, announces the addition of two new presses for plastics and silicone molding as well as enhanced design technology with MoldFlow® software. The new equipment and technology will increase production capabilities, ensure accuracy and expedite the design process.

The new additions bring the following capabilities to MRPC.

* 250 Ton Toshiba Electric Injection Molding Machine: Unlike older hydraulic predecessors, this molding machine uses state-of-the-art controls to make the process cleaner and more precise.

* Vertical Injection/Transfer Molding Machine: Providing additional capacity, this machine allows MRPC to meet the growing demand for its silicone and rubber capabilities.

* MoldFlow® Insight 360: A program that MRPC outsourced in the past, MoldFlow® brings molding simulation in-house to accelerate the design process of thermoplastic and silicone parts. In the part design stage, MoldFlow® predicts manufacturing success and helps avoid potential issues before committing to tooling. By speeding up the part design review process, this produces faster time-to-market and lower overall cost to customers.

“Our aggressive growth strategy has provided us an opportunity to expand our offerings to the medical device marketplace,” said Mark Brandstaetter, Vice President of Sales. “We will continue to invest in the resources required to allow us to stay at the forefront of our industry by creating value for our existing and prospective customers.”

MRPC, a 91-year-old company, has invested several million dollars into its facilities in recent years, including the addition of multiple cleanrooms that allow MRPC to add additional liquid injection molding (LIM) machines to increase their liquid silicone rubber molding capabilities. Its most recent cleanroom, a class 100,000, opened in 2012. MRPC has a total of five cleanrooms, from class 10,000 to 100,000.
