(Milwaukee, WI) Terry Klippel and Anthony J. Machi were recently recognized by the Wisconsin Chapter of the March of Dimes for their volunteer service to the organization.

State director Babette Honoré and Volunteer Development Chair Mary Fields, Vice President of Business Development at Aurora Health Care, presented Terry Klippel of Wauwatosa with a plaque acknowledging his years of service with March of Dimes. Klippel, an attorney at Storm, Balgeman, Miller & Klippel, S.C., has volunteered for March of Dimes for more than 20 years and served on the board of directors for most of those years. Starting as Treasurer in 1990, Klippel served in many roles including Chair or Member of the Finance Committee, Vice Chair, Chapter Chair, Nominating Committee Chair, Southeastern Wisconsin Division (now known as Milwaukee Division) Board of Directors member, Planned Giving Chair, Chapter Counsel, and many more roles with the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter that precede current records. Klippel is a past Volunteer of the Year for the Wisconsin Chapter. As a polio survivor, Klippel always kept March of Dimes volunteers rooted in the organization’s esteemed beginnings and bridged the connection to the current mission of improving the health of babies.

Also honored for his volunteer services was Anthony J. Machi of Greendale, a former municipal judge and the current owner of USGUYS Racing. This past February 2011, Tony Machi celebrated his 30th year of volunteer service for March of Dimes. Over the years with the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter and the subsequent Wisconsin Chapter, Tony has had many accomplishments. During his time on the Board of Directors he served as President, leading the chapter to high fund-raising achievements; member of the Advocacy Network, during which he was instrumental in convincing then governor Tommy Thompson to sign a pending Birth Defects Surveillance bill into law and as a member of the Nominating Committee was responsible for recruiting many volunteers to the chapter and division boards.

As a committee volunteer, Machi created and chaired many special events including NASCAR Fan Fair, Champ Car Pit Road BBQ / Race of Champions, IRL Rhythm and Zoom gala, and Drive for Babies. Combined, these events during the past 12 years have raised more than $586,525 for the Wisconsin Chapter! State director Babette Honoré & Volunteer Development Chair Mary Fields, VP of Business Development at Aurora Health Care, presented Machi with the Founder’s Award, one of the chapter’s most prestigious volunteer awards.

March of Dimes is proud to have such motivated, influential and dedicated volunteers behind its mission.
