Madison Children’s Museum: Science on the brain for May 18 Adult Swim

MADISON, Wis. (Friday, May 11, 2012) — Get ready to geek out at Madison Children’s Museum on Friday, May 18, from 6-10 p.m. for a mid-spring edition of Adult Swim that fuses learning with fun!

The theme for this installment is “Science Soiree,” with a wide variety of activities throughout the museum. Touch a human brain courtesy of the UW Center for Neuroscience, explore nanotechnology and the properties of glass fusion in the Art Studio, tinker with printing press technology at our Possible-opolis™ Press, and explore pioneer-era science in our Log Cabin. Enjoy presentations and hands-on demonstrations by guest scientists on topics including cloud chambers, meteors, and “the science of pee.”

Local performers get in on the action, too, with performances including “Sonata for Dry Ice and Theremin,” “Physics of Poetry,” and a rooftop dance set by the Theramones, Madison’s original theremin-driven Ramones tribute band.

Honoring the public pool tradition, the museum is cleared of kids for Adult Swim, leaving the facility open to adults only for the night. More than 500 people attend, but a limited number of tickets are available. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at MadisonChildrensMuseum.org until 4 p.m. the day of the event, or at the door for the same price. Although almost all past events have sold out in advance, we have a good number of tickets remaining as of today.

Adult Swim is a great event to attend with family, friends, or coworkers. Wine, beer, and Roman Candle pizza will be available for purchase. Adults 21 and up are welcome; a valid ID will be required to enter the event.

Can’t make this date? The next Adult Swim will be held from 6-10 p.m. Friday, June 22.
