Hot Rod Radio: Celebrates five years with fundraiser for veterans

Attendees are asked to bring automobile magazines to celebration

Milwaukee, WI. For Wisconsin Hot Rod Radio’s fifth anniversary, of course there’s going to be a party, and all the standard party things will be there—food from New Berlin Quaker Steak & Lube, live music and a fundraiser aimed at putting automobile related magazines in the hands of veterans.

That last one might sound a bit odd, and that’s exactly what makes it so notable. WHRR hosts Captn Bob Trinastic and Arlo Dillman are asking listeners to bring 10 automobile related magazines to the party. The magazines will go to the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Union Grove, WI, before being distributed to other Wisconsin Veteran’s Homes.

“We’re extremely proud of turning out five years of high quality programming, but we’re even more excited about using this momentous occasion to help our country’s brave men and women,” says Captn Bob.

“Even if it’s a ‘Car and Driver’ from 1967, that’s still okay,” adds Arlo. “The writing remains just as good as it was then and might even offer a new perspective for any hot rodders out there. It’s just great reading material.”

If attendees do not have automotive magazines, that’s completely all right. Instead, Captn Bob and Arlo ask them to make donations to the Home for Heroes Foundation. Those who do donate either cash or magazines will receive a free meal ticket for the event, while the food supply lasts.

Home for Heroes provides financial assistance to veterans with mechanical or labor needs to keep their house safe and up to date. The program is supported by realtors, insurance companies, underwriters and banks who give a portion of their fees back to the soldier.

Furthermore, the anniversary party will host a raffle with over 50 auto-related items being auctioned off. Proceeds from the raffle will also benefit Homes for Heroes.

The anniversary party will occur on Saturday, April 21 from 3 to 9 pm at Manheim Milwaukee Auto Auction, 561 27th Street in Caledonia. The event will feature a special appearance from Stacey David, host of Speed TV’s GearZ program as well as slot car drag racing . 3 shows of “High Octane” music will be performed by Milwaukee’s own Four Guyz in Dinner Jackets.

“The events we have planned, any hot rod fanatic is going to love it,” says Captn Bob, “and since we obviously fit that category, it’s going to be a great day for a great cause.”
