A Historic Milwaukee, Inc. Panel Discussion

MILWAUKEE, WI – (April 2012) On Wednesday, April 11, Historic Milwaukee, Inc. will host a panel discussion on new construction in historic districts. The event is sponsored by Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c., and held at their offices at 1000 N. Water St., Suite 1700. The event will begin at 6 pm.

The panel discussion will follow a presentation by Keith Stachowiak of Uihlein Wilson Architects, titled “Hotel MKE: An Alternate Proposal to the Marriott”.

Local developers, politicians, architects and critiques will then discuss the vision of preservationists, the economics of development, and the politics of the process dealing with new development in historic districts. The panel will feature, as moderator, Bruce Block, Real Estate Practice Co-Chair and Shareholder at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.; Bob Greenstreet, Ph.D., Architect and Dean, School of Architecture and Urban Planning; Whitney Gould, freelance writer, former Architecture critique for the Journal Sentinel, Nik Kovac, 3rd District Alderman, Tom Capp, Chief Operating Officer, Gorman and Co., Jim Shields, Design Principal, HGA.

Historic Milwaukee hopes open a dialogue that will increase community awareness of the issues involved with new construction in historic districts, and broaden public understanding of the future of our shared built heritage.
