Doors Open Milwaukee 2, presented by Historic Milwaukee Inc., is rapidly approaching on the weekend of September 22 & 23. The event is expected to be bigger and better than last year’s with 40 new sites and a total of 125 sites set to participate. Visitors will be able to start their own tours at any site from Rockwell Allen-Bradley Clock Tower to the 911-call center of the MPD, from the fish tanks at Sweet Water Organics to the sedate atmosphere of the 1887 Woman’s Club of Wisconsin. Best of all, the entire event is free of charge. Event headquarters will be at Milwaukee City Hall.

DO Mke Logo Final The Doors Open Milwaukee website http://doorsopenmilwaukee.org provides a full event guide and building list as well as dozens of In-Depth Walking Tours with full descriptions, dates and times. Free tickets for In-Depth tours will be distributed at 9am the morning of each tour at City Hall. The very popular Passport Program for kids and families returns this year. All children under the age of 18 can receive a free passport; all “kids” over 18 we ask for a $1 donation.

The website also features a section listing buildings by interest and geographic location allowing visitors to create their own tour. A detailed map, parking and transportation information to allow for easy access to and from different sites will be posted in the near future.

Links and information for anyone interest in donating or becoming a sponsor are also available including sponsorship benefits.

A printed event guide with map will be available in the Sunday, September 16 issue of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Event guides will also be available at the building sites on the event days.
