OSHKOSH, WI – 4/22/12 Healthy Living Events, LLC is attempting to break two Guinness World Records on the day of the Sustainability Expo.

One Day, One Time, One Place

1. We are partnering with the Winnebago County Solid Waste Management Board to break the most plastic bottles recycled in eight hour period record. The current record is 19,400.45 lb and was achieved by Nestle Waters China Project WET in Shanghai, China, on 21 March 2011. So save those bottles and make an impact on the earth!

2. The most plastic bags recycled in 8 hours is 120,000 and was achieved by Consorzio SEA (Italy) in Fossano, Italy on 27 November 2010. Sponsored by Festival Foods Oshkosh: Bring your plastic bags and bottles to the Sustainability Expo on May 12th and help set a Guinness World Record! Festival Foods is providing a plastic bag recycling program. We will accept plastic bags from all retailers and recycle them to beat the world record. The recycled bags will be made into composite material boards, used to make decks and benches.

Recycled Fashion Show:

Sponsored by Twenty-Seventh Letter – See extraordinary people transforming garbage to glamour and strutting their stuff on stage. Cash prizes are awarded to each category; Adult, Teen and Children. Recycled fashions must be made of at least 75% recycled or reused materials that otherwise would be thrown away or recycled. Complete outfits are recommended. Only one prize per designer.

Recycled Furniture Contest:

Sponsored by Atomic Katz – Entrants are encouraged to create reused or recycled furniture by turning trash into beautiful treasures. The artwork will be displayed and prizes awarded. The Re-ecycled Furniture Exhibition contains work that is made from at least 75% recycled/reused materials. Three categories; kids, teens and adult, will be judged for cash prizes. So, what can you make from wood pallets, soda bottles, or tires? How about those old toy parts or broken electronics?

Fox Cities Records Services is ShreddingForLess.com

Shred your documents. Shred your computer hard drive. Shred your cell phone.

Shred your computer hard drive at the expo! Hard drives from your computer contain a lot personal information that thieves would love to get their hands on. Credit card and social security numbers, addresses and bank accounts are all vulnerable information. With Fox Cities Records Services, you can actually drop your hard drive in our shredder and watch it shred to pieces. Once the hard drive is shredded at Fox Cities Records Services, no data will ever be able to be reconstructed or retrieved. FCRS then recycles the shredded bits responsibly.

Bring your documents to be shredded to the expo!! FCRS offers a secure off-site shredding service for their customers. All of their shredding is done professionally, securely, and a certificate of destruction is provided per your request.

Fox Cities Records Service is also collecting electronics, computer towers, computer accessories, small tv sets, vhs/dvd machines, etc.

Tennis Shoes: Save your old tennis shoes and bring them to the Sustainability Expo! We are partnering with our local Nike store to collect old tennis shoes at the expo. Nike’s Reuse-A-Shoe program collects old, worn-out athletic shoes for recycling, transforming them into Nike Grind, a material used in creating athletic and playground surfaces. Nike Grind includes three types of raw materials made from recycled athletic shoes and manufacturing byproducts: rubber from the outsole, foam from the midsole and fabric from the upper.

Printer Cartridges: Cartridge World of Fond du Lac will be collecting printer cartridges.
