Industry leader Orion Energy Systems Inc. earned Green Professional status under the WI Sustainable Business Council’s Green Masters Program. As a Green Professional, Orion Energy Systems has performed actions in each of nine “sustainability areas”, and has earned more than 100 Green Masters Program points.
Orion Energy Systems is a leading power technology enterprise that provides energy management solutions, from design to implementation. It showcases service to hundreds of leading Fortune 500 companies, billions of dollars of savings for customers, and opportunities to reduce energy consumption by up to 50% or more.
Orion Energy Systems implements these principles in its own operations, as well. The company operates an “off-the-grid” manufacturing facility; through implementing many of the technologies it designs and manufactures, including its Apollo Solar Light Pipes ® and InteLite® control system, along with on-site renewable power generation, they were able to reduce kilowatt usage to zero.
“Technology like ours is only becoming more essential for successful business,” commented Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Governmental Affairs, Kevin Crawford. “We’re proud to offer competitive services while helping businesses reduce their environmental impact.”
“The Wisconsin Sustainable Business council is excited to welcome Orion Energy Systems to the Green Masters program,” says Executive Director Tom Eggert. “Businesses like Orion Energy Systems are important to Wisconsin; their expertise in sustainable business practice provides valuable leadership to the state.”
The Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council works with businesses in the state interested in becoming leaders in sustainability. The program serves businesses at all stages of development by educating, facilitating information exchange between members, and providing support. The council, which also hosts an annual business conference and issues an annual State of the State Sustainability Report, seeks to promote Wisconsin as a gathering place for innovative and sustainable business.
The Green Professional designation is the second highest tier in the Green Masters Program established by the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council. Candidates are judged on a comprehensive range of sustainability issues from energy and natural resource use to education outreach and purchasing. 94 Wisconsin businesses have participated in the program where the top twenty percent achieve the highest “Green Master” designation.
