Friends of Horicon Marsh International Education Center: Learn new outdoor skills at Horicon Marsh Fall Festival and open house

Horicon, Wisconsin, October 4, 2012— This season, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Friends of Horicon Marsh International Education Center offer adventure and family fun with the Horicon Marsh Fall Festival. This free event will be held Saturday, October 20th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come learn new outdoor skills, enjoy live music and savor fall inspired tastes.
Outdoor experts will lead activities in GPS and compass work, archery, waterfowl identification, and fishing skills including casting and tying hooks. A nature craft station will let your child’s creativity run wild to make and take their work of art home. At 11 a.m., a presentation on “Wisconsin Mammals” will be held in the lower level auditorium. Cookies and cider will be provided by the Friends of Horicon Marsh International Education Center.
At 1:30 p.m., local artist and musician Spid Pieper will liven up the room with an acoustic performance. Spid will sing songs by a variety of well-known artists including John Denver, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, John Prine, The Eagles, Neil Young, Billy Joel, R.E.M., Coldplay and many others. He will be accompanying himself on 6 and 12 string guitar, mandolin and harmonica.

The Fall Festival and performance by Spid Piper are free and open to the public.

With bird migration in full flight at Horicon Marsh, now is the perfect time experience autumn at the Marsh.
