McNeilus Steel, Inc., announced today a major facility expansion that will add a 96,000-square-foot coil processing facility near its current location at 123 East Larsen Drive in Fond du Lac. The $15 million expansion is expected to be completed by August 2013.

The company is projecting that the new facility will allow them to add 50 jobs in three to five years, said McNeilus Steel General Manager Greg Head. The facility will allow steel coil to come directly to Fond du Lac via the CN Railroad.

“We are very excited to continue our expansion in Fond du Lac,” Head said. “This facility will make the company’s Fond du Lac location self -sufficient, processing coil product from 16 gauge to 5/8” thick and save us on freight from the mill and from processing the coils in Minnesota. Ultimately we will become more competitive in our market as well as be able to continue our growth strategy in Wisconsin.”

The new facility was designed and will be constructed by Keller, Planners, Architects and Builders under the direction of Keller Project Manager Bob Poch and Architect Steve Klessig.

FCEDC President Steve Jenkins, CEcD, praised the expansion of a company that has only been in Fond du Lac for three years. “This is a great indication that manufacturing is doing well and growing in Fond du Lac County and the region.”
