Family Planning Health Services (FPHS) just received an Urgent recall notice from Watson Pharma Inc. recalling multiple lots of the birth control pill LUTERA 0.10/.02mg. The information from PRACTRx states Watson Pharma Inc. voluntarily initiated this recall when it was determined that some of the tablets in lots 517921AA (exp. 3/14); 517922AB (exp. 3/14); 517921AB (exp. 3/14); 517923AA (exp. 3/14); 517922AA (exp. 3/14); 517923AB (exp. 3/14) could potentially be contaminated with trace amounts of Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ)

The notice from Watson Pharma Inc. states that adverse effects from the contamination are unlikely. Family Planning Health Services clinics stock a lot of Lutera affected by the recall as well as many lots that were not affected by the recall. FPHS will assist consumers taking LUTERA to determine if their birth control has been recalled. Our toll free number is 1-800- 246-5743.
